Boeung Ket will face Phnom Penh Crown at the Smart RSN Stadium this Sunday, and Hao Socheat confirms that Chan Vathanaka is ready to face the six-time champions of Cambodia.
The Cambodia international striker returned to Boeung Ket after he had parted way with Malaysian club PKNS, where he spent only half a season.
Despite an unsuccessful stint with the Malaysian outfit, the 25-year-old returned to Boeung Ket with a bang as he bagged a hat-trick in Boeung Ket’s 6-0 away win over Siem Reap in the first leg of Hun Sen Cup round of last 16.
Chan Vathanaka, who is by far the most prolific striker for Cambodia these days, is set to play his first league match for Boeung Ket this Sunday, when Hao Socheat’s side take on the Red Singha in their second Cambodian Classic Match of the season.
With the addition of Chan Vathanaka, Hao Socheat believes that it can bolster Boeung Ket’s attack for the mouth-watering clash with Sum Vanna’s side who are on a great form recently.
Boeung Ket defeated Phnom Penh Crown 3-2 in the opening Metfone Cambodian League battle, but Hao Socheat believes that this Sunday’s Cambodian Classic Match will be a tougher test for his side as Phnom Penh Crown have brought in three quality foreign players including attacking duo Dzarma Bata and Booysen Shane and Afghanistan midfielder Mustafa Zazai.
Hao Socheat told TheMorning: “Chan Vathanaka is ready to face Phnom Penh Crown. He scored a hat-trick in the Hun Sen Cup, so it can be a good confidence for him as he didn’t score a lot when he played for overseas clubs.
“With him in our attack, it can surely improve our attack, and hopefully he can help us score more goals.
“Against Phnom Penh Crown is always tough for us because they are a strong team, and they have a lot of quality players such as Bata, Booysen, Mustafa, and Paulo.”
