Favorites to progress to the Hun Sen Cup Semifinals

The second legs of the Hun Sen Cup quarter-final round kick off today, with eight teams battling to secure their place in the semifinals, however, three teams are heavy favorites to progress to the next round of the tournament due to their first-leg performance and result.

G.C National Police, Phnom Penh Crown, and Nagaworld seem to already put one foot into the semifinals after thrashing their opponents in the first leg with several goals advantage.

G.C National Police face FFC U18 at the Bati National Football Training Center this afternoon, with Coach Sareth Sidon’s side bringing a three-goal advantage into the second-leg tie after hammering their opponents 3-0 in the first leg at home.

Phnom Penh Crown thrashed Angkor Tiger 3-0 in an away encounter at the Siem Reap Stadium, leaving their opponents with a mountain to climb in the second-leg meeting at the RSN Stadium, with the two-time Hun Sen Cup winners likely reckoning the Hun Sen Cup triumph as their top priority after their league title hope is almost over.

Nagaworld lead by two goals into the second leg after defeating Boeung Ket 2-0 in the first leg under the downpour. The second-leg clash between the two Cambodian powerhouse teams will be held at the National Olympic Stadium to decide who will get through to the semifinals.

Meanwhile, no one is pretty sure whether Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng or Ministry of National Defense will reach the semifinals. Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng have one goal in hand following their 2-1 success in the first leg at the Army Stadium, with the second-leg clash played at their Svay Rieng Stadium , the four-time Hun Sen Cup winners are likely to get advantage from their home support to see off Ministry of National Defense.
