Darren Pomroy claims that Soltilo Angkor are ready to compete with any Metfone Cambodian League team as his side will face Angkor Tiger in their first Siem Reap derby of the season this Saturday.
Soltilo Angkor are in their brilliant form after securing a great league record as they are undefeated in five league matches with two draws and three wins from their last three games, and they are determined to beat their Siem Reap rivals this weekend, too.
Darren Pomroy also points out that his players have faith in the team and believe in the philosophy of the club, which is the turning point that can raise the team’s morale after a tough start to the new league season.
The 34-year-old head coach told TheMorning: “Our preparation is the same as it has been every week. We’re professional. My players fear no one, and we are ready for any challenge.
“In the derby games, league form is usually not important. It’s about heart and determination. The players have belief in our philosophy and our potential, and for us that’s what matters.
“Angkor Tiger are a club that I respect, and their vision for football for their supporters is great. Oriol Mohedano and his staff deserve credit for their season so far. For us, the focus is on developing football and football players, not giving away free T-shirts.
“In terms of performance, this game is the same as any other. Our goal is to dominate possession and play football the right way. No matter what is happening in the game, we stick to our philosophy and play our way.
“We’re always ready. This is a derby game, so the emotions will be a little higher than normal. For us, there is no pressure. Angkor Tiger do a great job at convincing people that they’re the best club in Siem Reap, so it’s time for them to prove it. They have everything to lose.”
